Bölkow BO 103

Many parts of the "Heli Trainer" were re-used for this small helicopter (research project by the Federal Ministry of Defense). Its flying characteristics turned out to be excellent; however, there was no successor to this prototype, because the Federal Ministry of Defense had shifted their interests towards multi-seated helicopters.

Exhibit in the Museum

In 1961, the single-blade single-seated helicopter Bo-103 was developed from the Bölkow Bo-102 "Heli Trainer". It had its first flight in September, 1961. This helicopter equipped with a rotor blade made from glass-reinforced plastic was presented on the Hanover Air Show 1962. The project was discontinued because of lack of need for a single-seated helicopter.
