The Sikorsky CH-53G with the registration 84+11 is back in Bückeburg Achum! - addendum of July 31, 2024
The Sikorsky CH-53G with the tactical code 8411, for which I, Dieter Bals, was technically responsible for over 20 years (from the end of 1973 to 1995), has finally returned home.
It will be incorporated into the teaching collection of the Army Aviation Corps, at the location 'Helicopter Museum,' just like nine other decommissioned exhibits before it. In August/September, the Diepholz technicians of HSG 64, together with the teaching workshop and its manager Harald Habben, will equip the helicopter with engines, gearbox, rotor head, tail boom, etc.. They had to be removed for road transport, so that it can be set up above the entrance of the new building in the helicopter museum. It will be a great addition to the museum, and we are very much looking forward to it. Unfortunately, Tommy (Thomas Mallwitz) is no longer with us; he initiated all of this… he will be watching from above and will be very happy, that it is back.
Here is the 84+11 on its last flight in 2012 to Faßberg, with Thomas Mallwitz and Roland Karnbach.
And that is how its supposed to look like, when it comes to our Helicopter Museum:
