Interns in the Jäger Kaserne (Barracks) - addendum of January 15, 2025
There are some interns at the Jägerkaserne, who visited our helicopter museum yesterday on January 14th. I had the opportunity to guide seven lively boys and one girl through our museum. They all came from Lower Saxony, three of them were from Bückeburg (10th grade), of whom I personally know the mother of one, the father of another, and the grandfather of the third.
During the introductory talk, I noticed that hardly any of them were interested in physics, and some even wanted to drop the subject... I thought, I need to do something about that, and I explained flight physics, technology, flying, aerodynamics during the tour, as well as the gyroscopic effect (gyroscopic precession) and much more in an illustrative way, so that by the end, after almost 3 hours of the tour, the interest in physics was finally sparked — as my cardiologist said last week, you encounter physics very often in life and in every profession!
And at least half of them now also want to become helicopter pilots. 😀 (but it's still a long way to go...)
Many thanks to you, I really enjoyed it.
Best regards, DieTer Bals, Museum Director
